Self-care and Self-love is a journey. It helps you connect with your true self and heals you in ways that are beyond explanation. There are many ways to practice self-love and self-care and I am constantly changing up my self-care rituals based on how I am feeling and what is going on in my life.
So let us take a peek in my current self-care tool kit.
Journaling
I bought a simple journal from a Dirham Store and started writing every single day in it. I fill it with positive thoughts, blog post ideas, gratitude list, wouldn’t it be wonderful if this happened scenarios and quotes from books I am reading. I also doodle coffee cups, roses and potted plants in it. This consistent routine has helped me to unearth the creativity, ideas and small wishes that lives deep inside me. I borrow my son’s color pencils and crayons to make it all more pretty and in this process I felt connected to the little girl in me.
Now if you have been on the self-growth journey for a while you already know the importance of inner-child healing. When I am being silly and playful with my journal content, I feel I am connecting with my inner child and bringing forth her wishes that had to be buried deep so that I could be a responsible adult.
Stretching
I sit for long hours when my blog-work piles up and to be honest my back hurts the most and stretching regularly has been such a boon. When I was around 9 years old is when my dad got really strict with me about exercising and stretching and here I openly say “Dad I am truly grateful to you for instilling the body-stretching habit in me.”
This stretching video has been Godsend in my opinion because it is short, effective and since I have been doing it daily for almost 3 months I can say I am more flexible and feel more energized. It is a full-body stretch that is performed in 5 minutes and each stretch is held for 20 seconds. I do this at least 2 to 3 times daily and highly recommend the same to you.
Breathing
Deep breathing has many benefits on the body and mind. Some of the known benefits of deep breathing are:
- Improves the functioning of the Respiratory System
- Releases tension from muscles
- Releases stress
- Improves energy
- Improves productivity and creativity
- Brings clarity to your thinking
- Helps in skin health
Now for me, this video from Calm has been a great find and I hope you love it as much as I do. It is simple Inhale and Exhale that makes me feel centered.
Self-Care Worksheet
I have a morning self-care worksheet that aligns me with my self. It helps me to set my daily intention and prompts me to pick up my morning read. You can get your own self-care worksheet for free by clicking here. I use rosemary essential oil while I work with my morning self-care worksheet as it promotes clear thinking and healing.
Cozy Comfy Vibes At Home
I am an introvert married to an extrovert and also have a very active 5-year-old son. To say I am constantly out of my comfort zone is an understatement. When I am out and feeling overwhelmed the one thing that keeps me sane is that I return to a clean and cozy bed with my comfy duvet and right next to it I have my incense.
A quick shower followed by, nighttime skincare, my incense energetic cleansing and a warm cup of fennel seed tea heal me deeply. It is a must in my self-care routine without which I feel scattered.
You could add scented candles, string lights, dark chocolate, comfy socks, massage tools and many more to make the unwinding routine truly magical and healing. I also love chamomile tea and lavender essential oil to help me unwind.
Many nights I do a quick brain dump before sleeping as it helps me to let go of things that are toxic for me and helps me detox my mind and soul. Self-care and Self-love are all about doing more things that make you happy and rejuvenated so that you can be your best self every day. It helps you fill yourself up so that you can nourish others from your overflow.
These are all the essentials I have in my current Self-Care and Self-Love toolkit. I would like to do a post on books, massage tools and more that I include in my weekly self-care routine and if you have suggestions about the same topic kindly let me know.
Stay Blessed!
