Happy New Year my lovely readers! How is 2021 treating you?

I started my 2021 with a much-needed digital detox followed by a walk on the beach. There was the distant murmur of people around, my son and husband playing with his little remote control car, the cold breeze, and the chaos in my mind. New year’s day is so bittersweet for me. The realization of another year whizzing past us while we think it is still okay to postpone our dreams and goals scares me. If one thing 2020 has taught me it is that you can not take life for granted and tomorrow is promised to no one.

This post is going to be a free-flowing stream of consciousness from me, so grabbing a cup of tea or coffee and reflecting with me would be very enjoyable. Today is the 4th of January and Dubai winters are in full swing. The clouds look like white fluffy cotton candies and the sky is incredibly blue. It is one of those days when my overthinking, existential crisis, and search for something that I can not name yet, turn into a blog post. Gosh, I have missed writing for the pure joy of it without the need to worry about SEO and technicalities. It seems like I am melting into these words and finding liberation in the process.

Have you thought about liberation? What does liberation mean to you? Do you crave to be liberated? If so from whom or what? What would being liberated look like? What would being liberated feel like? When was the last time you had an insanely deep conversation with someone? What was that conversation about?

What was the worst thing that happened to you? Have you shared that experience with anyone? How did it change you? Did you let it define you? Does it still hold power over you? What would you say has been a turning point in your life? What do you want out of life?

One minute Meditation to bring you back home to yourself

How am I today? How do I feel physically? How does every inch of my body feel? Do I feel tight or sore somewhere? Am I breathing deeply? Am I deeply aware of the life force flowing through me? Am I hungry? Am I thirsty? Do I feel well-rested? Am I happy with the quality of my sleep? Do I want to change something about my sleeping pattern? If so what? Do I feel connected to myself or am I feeling like a stranger to myself? Am I loving and honoring myself daily? Am I loving and accepting myself at this moment?

Questions to ask yourself for a deeper connection with self

  • When was the last time I laughed like a happy toddler without a care in the world?
  • What makes me happy?
  • Am I doing more of what makes me happy?
  • What do I want out of life?
  • How healthy are the most important relationships in my life?
  • How can I nourish those relationships more?
  • Am I generally a reactive person or a proactive person?
  • Who or what is draining my energy?
  • How good is my physical, mental and emotional health?
  • Am I responding or reacting to people on a daily basis?
  • In what areas of my life am I feeling unsupported?
  • How do I perceive myself?
  • If others perceived me the way I perceived myself, will I be happy?
  • Do I want to contribute something to the world through my life? If so what and how?

I hope you enjoyed this meditation, self-reflection journey as much as I did. I love just sitting here and sharing this experience of soul searching with you. You and I coming home to our own selves. You and I defying the human concept of logic and reason and transcending this plane of suffering and pain to embrace unconditional love and deep compassion for all of this Universe. Once we are all able to come into alignment with ourselves, we can work towards our life goals and missions while being supportive of the similar journey of everyone around us. A utopian world filled with love, peace, and prosperity where we all are equals? I say why not.
